Terms of Service
Effective date: ยท Applies to the PocketCut website and mobile and desktop apps
Your content remains yours. PocketCut helps you edit and export audio and video on your device. You are responsible for the content you use and share, and for reviewing transcripts and exports. These terms do not take away consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
1. About these terms
PocketCut is provided by Cody Bontecou ("we," "us," or "our"). These terms govern your use of PocketCut and this website. By using PocketCut, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. If you are using PocketCut for an organization, you must have authority to agree on its behalf.
You must be legally able to agree to these terms. If you need a parent or guardian's permission under applicable law, that person must agree to these terms and supervise your use.
2. Using the app
Subject to these terms and any applicable app-store license, you may use PocketCut on devices you own or control for lawful personal or commercial editing. We retain our rights in the app, branding, and website; you retain your rights in your content. Open-source components remain subject to their own licenses.
For copies obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies unless a separate custom license is supplied through the store. These terms do not replace that license or override applicable store rules. Other distribution platforms may also impose terms that apply to your download or purchase.
3. Your content and responsibilities
You keep ownership of your media, transcripts, edits, and exports. These terms do not grant us ownership of your content or permission to use it for advertising or model training.
- Only import, edit, or share content you own, have permission to use, or may otherwise lawfully use. Obtain any required recording, privacy, publicity, music, and other permissions.
- Do not use PocketCut for unlawful content, infringement, harassment, fraudulent impersonation, or deceptive editing that violates another person's rights.
- Do not interfere with the website or app's security, introduce malicious code, or bypass purchase controls. This does not limit activities permitted by law or an applicable open-source license.
4. Transcripts, edits, and backups
Automated transcription, speaker labels, timing, and suggested edits can be inaccurate. Review your work before relying on it or sharing an export, especially when accuracy or context matters. PocketCut does not verify the truth of your content or clear rights for you.
Keep copies of important source media and exports. Local projects can be lost through deletion, uninstalling the app, device failure, or other events. PocketCut is not a cloud backup service and cannot promise recovery of files stored only on your device.
5. Purchases and refunds
The available free features, paid features, price, currency, and any applicable taxes are shown before you purchase. Where offered, unlimited export is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. An unlock covers the features described at purchase; it does not promise every future product or service.
App-store purchases are processed by the relevant store and are subject to its payment, restore, and refund rules, together with applicable consumer law. Purchase availability and restoration depend on the store account and eligible devices. For refunds, use Apple's purchase support or Google Play's refund guidance, as applicable. You may also contact us for help. Nothing here removes a refund or other remedy required by law.
6. Third-party services and optional publishing
PocketCut's current editing and export workflow runs on your device. Development builds may provide a native operating-system share sheet; presentation or completion of that interface is not proof of delivery. Direct publishing to TikTok is available for invited Sandbox testers through our website and may not be available in your app version. The integration has been submitted for TikTok production review but has not been approved or passed the Direct Post audit. Unified connections for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Threads, and LinkedIn remain limited to development and provider-approved testers; no public production launch has occurred. Bluesky remains unavailable in released builds and uses a separate native public-client flow.
If you choose to use an optional publishing integration, you must connect an account you are authorized to use and explicitly choose what to publish. Review the destination account, content, and available privacy settings before confirming. The destination platform's terms, age requirements, content policies, and privacy rules also apply. Platforms may restrict, reject, or remove posts or change their integrations; we do not guarantee acceptance, reach, or continued availability. Information about the integration's data handling is provided in our privacy policy and publishing interface.
Other external services, including app stores and model-download hosts, operate under their own terms. Links do not imply endorsement or affiliation.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains the app's current data handling. These terms are not consent to undisclosed collection or sharing. If features change how personal data is handled, we will update the relevant disclosures and obtain any consent required by law before that processing begins.
8. Availability and warranties
Features can vary by device, operating system, region, and app version. We may release fixes or change features, subject to applicable law and the commitments made at purchase. We do not promise that the app or website will always be available, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, PocketCut is provided "as is" and "as available," without additional warranties. This does not exclude statutory warranties, guarantees, or remedies that apply to you and cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Liability and your legal rights
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of PocketCut. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your mandatory consumer rights remain in effect.
If something goes wrong, please contact us so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require arbitration, waive class-action rights, or prevent you from seeking help from a regulator or a court available to you under applicable law.
10. Stopping use and changes to these terms
You may stop using PocketCut at any time. Back up anything you need before deleting the app or its data. Stopping use does not remove any refund rights or other obligations that already arose.
We may update these terms for changes in the app, law, or how we operate. We will post the updated terms here with a new effective date and provide additional notice or request agreement when required by law. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights connected to an earlier purchase. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
